Our January meeting included the introduction of this year’s new officers.  Announcements included the Collector’s Challenge awarded to Glenn for the most coins found.  He was awarded a proof Silver 1972 Eisenhower Dollar. Randy proposed giving a gift to each member who makes a presentation in 2020 in order to encourage more people to do presentations.  We discussed our plans for our Club’s Coin Show on March . Exhibits included, bronze medals and a badge from the former U.S.S.R., Currency Look-Alike Collection including a new $1,000.00 gold Trump bill.  After break, we demonstrated our new projector.

Trivia: On January 6, 1793, officials with the United States Mint bought a guard dog for $3 — an amount nearly triple what the typical person earned in a day back then. The canine cop would make rounds with night watchmen once an hour to ensure the property was criminal-free.  Only the night watchman was allowed to feed him because they didn’t want the guard dog getting friendly with other people, losing his protective edge. What was the guard dog’s name?

Pot Coin: (1) Mercury Dime
