Our July meeting included Bob’s video about Mel Fisher Investments and about diving expeditions to the Atocha and the Margarita shipwreck areas from Key West.  Exhibits included: collection of old telephone cards, Mexican ½ real, 1880 brown backs: a $5 bill from Black River Falls, a $10 bill from Kaukauna, and a $20 bill from Tigerton, a Roman coin and other items of interest.

Mark Melby attended the launch of the America the Beautiful quarter honoring the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore on April 11. The ceremony was held at the Legendary Waters Resort in Red Cliff.  After the ceremony, $10 rolls of the new quarters were available for purchase.

  • Our next regular meeting of the Waukesha Coin Club will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, Aug 1st , at the Waukesha Salvation Army meeting room located at 445 Madison Street.  The Salvation Army is located one block west of the corner of Highway 18 and Madison Street. Enter through the back door and take the elevator to the second floor.
  • Guests Welcome: If anyone wants to bring new collectors young or old to the meetings, remember that guests are always welcome!

Trivia:    The US Mint was authorized to manufacture coins for foreign governments in 1874.  What foreign country was the first to have coins struck by the Philadelphia Mint?
