Happy New Year!

Presentation: We had a surprise presentation from our President Randy
He discussed Dr Roberts. A notorious figure in the Waukesha community. Married to
two women and with multiple mistresses. He is noted for his equine veterinarian
skills and supplements. He became an interest in the numismatists because of
his wrapped penny promoting luck to the bearer. Thank You Randy for the
presentation.

President’s Message: I’d like to start of this year with a few new ideas for the club.
Those that attended the January meeting may have noticed we had 3 Trivia prizes to
choose from. I’d like to keep that as a choice each time we have trivia. Your
suggestions are welcome. I’ve started a “Trade List” based on your requests to connect
buyers and sellers in our club. The list will be published along with the newsletter and
a hardcopy will be brought to the meeting. You’re welcome to email/text me items you’d
like to sell or buy (interested in). I can be the go between if needed. My contact info is
on the list. Our dues are still $15. You must be a member in good standing to
participate in our club activities and our new Trade List. If you need to pay your dues
and can’t make the meeting, you can venmo me. Otherwise, reach out to Eric (Treas.)
or me to send it in by check. Our Coin Show is next month and I have the Sheriff
locked in, same officer as last year. Our Raffle Lic is renewed. It appears all our tables
are filled. Our postcards will be mailed this week(1/20/2025). I’ll reach-out and connect
with New Berlin Ale House and the Waukesha Freeman this week.
I look forward to the new year in our new meeting place. I hope we can fill each
meeting with a presentation, or educational video/program this year.
See you then,
Randy

Mint News: The Mint has a lot going on this month. The release of the Native
American $1 coin with Mary Kawena Pukui on the reverse. She was an eminent
Hawaiian known for her efforts to document the Hawaii culture. I think this might be
the first coin with a woman on the obverse and reverse. The mint also released the
USMC 250th Anniversary commemorative coin set. The first 2025 Woman’s Quarter
will come out the first week of February. The New quarter program starting in 2027
was announced. It will commemorate Youth Sports. The Mint is asking for feedback
from everyone about what Youth Sports you want to see commemorated. Visit
https://usmint.gov/coins/coin-programs/youth-sports/ to take the survey, which will be live
from January 22, 2025, through February 20, 2025.
