Our August meeting included Tina’s article in the latest TEC News she’d written about Milwaukee Zoo EC’s,  Chuck’s visit to the Whydah Pirate Museum. The Whydah was a pirate ship which sank in 1717 with a crew of 200 pirates and at least 10,000 pounds of silver.  John gave a presentation on MPC Notes that included many from his own collection. MPC notes were used by U.S. military personnel stationed abroad from 1946 through 1973, and a complete set consists of 13 issues and 90 notes. John explained that MPC notes were intended to protect local currencies and control servicemen overseas. The notes were mainly meant to be used on military bases, but were often accepted by local businesses. MPC notes could be converted into local currency but not vice versa.

A Special Request has come to me and maybe the club can help; Mike Knippel in Peachtree City, GA contacted me in search of encased coin tokens from the old Knippel-Selig Ford dealership that was in Milwaukee some years ago. If you know of or have seen any please contact Randy.
