Our January Meeting was cancelled.  Hopefully we can have a February meeting.

After many discussions and analysis, we collectively decided to Cancel the 2021 Waukesha Coin Show.  Not enough vendors planned to attend and we were concerned the same for attendees.  We are planning to host a coin show next year March 13. 2022.

Our Annual raffle was conducted on Nov 4th at the Salvation Army Bldg.  39 total prizes were drawn.  Winners that did not attend were mailed their prizes.  One other announcement: Lyle and his wife recently celebrated their 65 wedding anniversary.

Here is a Trivia Question posed by one of our members for your enjoyment:

What commemorative half dollar is there a debate on which side is the obverse and reverse and why?

ANSWER: The Oregon Trail Memorial half dollar (1926 – 1939)

  1. The side with the covered wagon is considered the obverse by many because that is the side with the date.
  2. The side with the Indian is considered the obverse by the designers (James Earl Fraser and wife Laura Gardin Fraser)
  3. The mint officially designated the wagon side as the obverse and placed the date on that side.
  4. Most grading services consider the Indian side the obverse and place that side up in their holders (unless specifically requested otherwise.

OPINION: There is no right/wrong answer to the obverse/reverse question.
